Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening medical emergency that requires immediate action to improve a person’s chance of survival. Prompt recognition of the signs, rapid assessment of the situation, calling emergency services, and performing effective Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) are critical steps in providing life-saving assistance to someone who is unconscious and not breathing normally.
This CPR course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to respond confidently in a cardiac emergency, in accordance with current Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. Training includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), performing high-quality CPR, rotating rescuers with minimal interruption to compressions, and managing situations where a casualty regurgitates or vomits.
Participants will also learn the importance of accurately communicating incident information when handing over to emergency services, reviewing emergency responses, recognising the psychological effects that incidents may have on rescuers, and identifying opportunities to improve personal response skills and overall emergency preparedness.
