The training covers assessing and managing casualties, ensuring scene safety, accessing emergency medical assistance, and using first aid equipment and resources to provide appropriate treatment. Participants will learn essential life-saving skills including CPR and defibrillation, administering adrenaline autoinjectors for anaphylaxis, providing asthma medication, assisting choking casualties, and applying immobilisation techniques for fractures, sprains, strains, dislocations, and envenomation injuries. The course also includes managing non-life-threatening bleeding and shock.

In addition, participants will gain an understanding of basic anatomy and physiology, including the differences between adults, children, and infants when providing CPR and first aid care. The course highlights the importance of the chain of survival, accurate written and verbal incident reporting, reviewing emergency responses to improve personal performance and response times, recognising the psychological impact of emergencies, and identifying when to seek additional support or assistance.
